Recovery
Our focus centres on individuals with a physical impairment that results in the person having to live within an altered set of circumstances, which could affect and reduce their independence and quality of life.
Doctors are not based at the Alayande Rehabilitation Centre but we have a visiting medical officer (VMO) from Monday to Friday and access to the out-of-hour’s on-call Doctor service.
We will discuss and agree your rehabilitation goals with you, your carers and relatives. We will set a time scale got you to get there and discuss a possible date for leaving the centre. This date will not be set in stone.
Your plan of care may include:
Assistance with personal care, washing, dressing and grooming.
Enabling or supporting you to do household chores, such as bed-making and basic cooking
Exercises to strengthen your muscles and mobility tasks as required, such as getting up out of chairs and in and out of bed, walking and going up and down stairs if needed.
Social activities, such as watching television, or taking part in quizzes, if you wish.
Information on managing your condition to help you understand your medication ((if you have any)
Our ultimate function is to help you to gain the necessary abilities to regain your independence.
Your goals and objectives will be discussed and reviewed with you weekly by staff. Staff will be happy to teach and guide families how to support you.
